Pickatale has been selected by UNICEF's Learning Cabinet, a global platform spotlighting the world's most trusted EdTech tools, as one of a new cohort of high-impact solutions for educators worldwide.
The Learning Cabinet highlights high-quality, evidence-based EdTech tools evaluated for their safety, scalability, and real learning impact. Being listed alongside some of the world's leading EdTech solutions is a proud moment for our team, and a meaningful step in getting Pickatale's library into the hands of more children around the world.
UNICEF describes the Learning Cabinet as more than a platform. It’s a movement to ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, has access to high-quality digital learning tools.
Launched in November 2024, it is a core component of UNICEF's EdTech for Good Framework, developed by UNICEF's Global Learning Innovation Hub to make it easier for governments, educators, and innovators to identify safe, evidence-based, and scalable EdTech solutions.
The platform's newly added cohort represents a diverse range of approaches to teaching and learning, spanning foundational learning, teacher support, STEM education, language learning, and skills development. Each solution has been through a rigorous evaluation, assessed against the EdTech for Good Framework across pedagogy, safety, evidence, equity, and contextual suitability.
Learning Cabinet users now have access to Pickatale's full library of over 2,500 interactive books, alongside our educator dashboard, interactive reading features, and AI-driven book creator.
The educator dashboard gives teachers real-time insights into reading progress, while the AI-driven book creator lets schools build custom content in minutes. Together, these tools give educators everything they need to support confident, independent readers, whether they are working in a single classroom or scaling across an entire school system.
What sets Pickatale apart is a genuine commitment to evidence. Our platform is built on the Science of Reading, holds ESSA IV certification, and has been independently reviewed by the International Centre for EdTech Impact (WiKIT) for its science-based theory of change and alignment with high-quality research on children's reading. For Learning Cabinet users, that means choosing a tool they can trust to make a real difference.
Being part of the Learning Cabinet is another step in Pickatale's commitment to helping every child become a reader.
Pickatale is proud to be a pioneer in the Evidence and EdTech space and we are delighted to be recognised by UNICEF’s Learning Cabinet. Recognitions and certifications are an essential part of the Evidence and EdTech journey but they are more than badges. We value the rigour in the Learning Cabinet’s process and are excited to continue to use the EdTech for Good Framework to evolve and deliver the best in our product for educators and young students learning to read and write around the world! - Emily Guille-Marrett, Chief Education Officer at Pickatale
Pickatale’s inclusion in the Learning Cabinet coincides with our summer campaign supporting children across the UK through Pickatale's National Year of Reading library. From classrooms in the UK to communities around the world, we're just getting started.
The EdTech for Good Framework was developed by UNICEF alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Finland, ARM, ADB, and transdisciplinary partners across the EdTech industry. It enables the evaluation and curation of safe, impactful, and scalable EdTech tools, prioritising evidence, data security, and adaptability.
EdTech tools are rigorously evaluated through five core pillars:
